These are also
sometimes called headlights. Headlamps or headlights have evolved over the past few years. The bulbs in these headlamps
used to be very simple and really nothing special about them. Well that’s not necessarily the case anymore.
Some of these headlamps are computer controlled. This allows for among other things, dimming of the high and low lights.
The various bulbs can even have a stylish look to them. Some of the new halogen bulbs (or lamps) have a blue coating that produces a blue-white light. These bulbs have a high color temperature.
Like just about all other parts on your vehicle, these bulbs have to conform to various regulations. In this case it’s the ECE regulation.
Years ago we only had about three bulbs to choose from, now there is a bunch. It’s important to choose the right size bulb for what the application calls for or it can cause your vehicles computer to register the lamp incorrectly. In a case like this you could have odd things happen like for instance your windshield wipers could randomly come on, etc… Make sure you use the correct bulb as per your vehicles manufacturer's specifications.
