Fuel Injection

Fuel Injection These injectors are really nothing more than an electronically controlled valve. They are able to open and close many times per second and will allow fuel to spray into the intake valves. Your fuel pump will cause a high pressure running to these injectors and when this valve opens, it simply sprays out in a perfectly controlled fashion. It’s designed to atomize the fuel, which will make that mist burn very easy.

As the fuel injector opens up to spray the fuel out, it’s controlled by the ECU and this time is called the pulse width. Each cylinder has its own injector.

Before the day of the fuel injector we had carburetors. In fact in 1990 the last new car was sold in the United States using a carburetor.

Believe it or not, fuel injection has been around since the 1950s. For years this was only used on race cars. Then some European cars started using them in the 1980s. Manufacturers figured out racecars use fuel injection because it allows a more precise control of fuel, and a more even flow. All of this allows for better fuel economy and better performance.

It’s important to keep these clean. You can clean them chemically or you can take them out and have them cleaned and while you are at it, you can have them pressure tested. At around 30,000 to 40,000 miles you should have these cleaned and flushed out.

There are times when these will fail and if that is the case, we’ve got the replacement injectors ready for you. Once ordered we can have these on a truck headed for your doorstep. We are sure after you experience what we here at Clickonautoparts.com have to offer, you will make our online store your permanent place for quality low cost auto parts.
