Definitely exterior lamps have evolved over the past few years. Bulbs used to be very simple and really nothing special
about them. Well that’s not necessarily the case anymore.
The various bulbs can even have a stylish look to them. Some of the new halogen bulbs (or lamps) have a blue coating to them that produce a blue-white light. These bulbs have a high color temperature.
Like just about all other parts on your vehicle, these bulbs have to conform to various regulations. In this case it’s the ECE regulation.
Years ago we only had about three bulbs to choose from, now there is a bunch. It’s important to choose the right size bulb for what the application calls for or it can cause your vehicles computer to register the lamp incorrectly. In a case like this you could have odd things happen like for instance your windshield wipers could randomly come on, widows could roll down, etc… Make sure you use the correct bulb as per your vehicles manufacturer's specifications.
