This is
sometimes called a carb. This carburetor sits on top of the intake manifold, and is designed to mix the air and fuel before
it enters the cylinders of your engine.
This has been around since 1885 and has been in use until the late 1980s (around 100 years). All vehicles today have a fuel injection system that takes the place of carburetors.
The way the carburetor was designed was based on Bernoulli’s principle, the speed at which air moves is directly related to a low and high pressure around it. By being able to control how much air moves into the carburetor, you also can control how much fuel is drawn into this airstream.
Most vehicles of the age had only one carburetor, but some higher performance versions would have more. Around 1930 the carburetors made in the United States were pretty much all downdraft designs, as opposed to some updraft versions prior to that time. These downdraft carburetors would have a fixed-venture where the air velocity in the venture alters the flow of the fuel.
There are other parts of the carburetor that can also cause problems and need to be adjusted or replaced. Some of these parts are: float, choke, accelerator pump, power valve, etc.
If you find you need to replace some of these parts or in some cases the entire carburetor, Clickonautoparts.com is here for you. We have a nationwide network of warehouses stocking the various high quality auto parts that we can provide to you at low costs.
